.The Guerneville Flood Project: Thank God We’re Alive

One time I was showing some visitors around the Russian River area, and they asked why so many houses were elevated and built over ground-floor garages. The river really doesn’t look too imposing in the summertime, does it?You gotta love signs like this on the outside of people’s houses—it reminds us of the house near the on-ramp in Cotati that used to put residents’ birthday notices in the window. The caption tells us this house is in Riens Beach—does anyone know whose house it was? Or if it’s still there?Let us know in the comments below. The Guerneville Flood Project is a week-long dive into the photo archives of the North Bay Bohemian. Read about the project here.
