Al Torre and Youssoupha Sidibe

When: Sat., Oct. 5, 8 p.m. 2013

An intercultural evening of musical prayer, vocal and instrumental performance. Youssoupha’s musical career began over twenty years ago in his home of Senegal, where he was trained as a Kora player at the National Music Conservatory. His music fuses traditional West African sounds on the Kora, with Sufi devotional chanting of the Senegalese Baay Faal community. Al Torre is a self-taught guitarist with the unique ability to cross seamlessly over many styles and genres of music. Originally from New York, he is one of the most versatile players in the fertile West Coast music scene.
