Barbara Elliott's photography based artwork is contemporary yet nostalgic as if coated with attic dust. One senses a haunting humor while recognizing an understated elegance. Her subject is always the human form, whether alive or inanimate. She photographs old dolls weathered by time, mannequins, or live female models wrapped in spiraling cellophane. Elliott works with Polaroid image transfers and other alternative processes including cyanotype, Van Dyke printing, and the platinum/palladium process.
