We will make traditional Appalachian style baskets (or egg baskets), using locally harvested materials, as well as hemp twine and seagrass. Locally grown materials may include, bay laurel, golden willow, red osha dogwood, Watsonia grass, New Zealand flax and bark. We will discuss and explore the many weaving plants, along with their native origin, as well as the preparation for weaving with each fiber. We will discuss what you can plant in your own garden, to cultivate and harvest your own weaving wonders. All materials included in tuition.
