DeLaria is an American comedienne, actress, and jazz musician. She was the first openly gay comic to break the late-night talk-show barrier with her appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1993. She has performed stand-up comedy for more than 25 years and is a prominent figure in the world of LGBT comedy. Along with touring musical comedies, off broadway productions and soap opera roles. DeLaria is widely know today for her recent role in the Netflix Original Orange Is the New Black as the recurring character prison inmate Carrie 'Big Boo' Black.
