9/23-10/30: Bay Area artist Cynthia Tom explores the human trafficking using the experiences of her Chinese American heritage using vintage family imagery. Prior to the 1950’s, stories of trafficking were common in the San Francisco Chinese community. The long lasting variations that this trauma inflicted has forever altered the subsequent generations. Tom’s surrealistic narratives portray past events that unfortunately are still being played out in the Bay Area today. Tom engages her audience with beautiful artwork to share these stories so we will not turn away from this painful subject. She even gives us simple ways to help.
