Devastation, Recovery, Renewal

When: Sat., Aug. 3, 9-11 a.m. 2019

After the October 2017 Nuns fire burned 80% of Sugarloaf, it took months of hard work to repair trails and facilities. Now, almost 2 years later, signs of the fire are masked by a vibrant recovery and renewal. Join California Certified Naturalist John Lynch on this 3.5-mile, 2-hour hike from Creekside to Hillside and back through the meadow, where we will explore these remarkable changes and talk a little about how the original peoples of this area used fire. We will also search for late summer wildflowers, butterflies and dragonflies. We will depart from the main parking lot at 9.
