Dyeing with Indigo & Oak Galls with Ashley Eva Brock

Learn about the unique qualities and process of indigo dyeing, along with dye techniques that take advantage of the indigo’s special nature, as well as native oak galls as an under dye. Students will learn how to make and maintain an indigo vat (using natural indigo powder, soda ash and thiox) and will experiment with itajime (clamp dyeing), shibori (tie dyeing), and ombre (gradient dyeing) with fabric provided by the instructor.
