Beat poet Harold Norse's life and work will be celebrated at a reading from his posthumously released selected poems I Am Going to Fly Through Glass. Among his friends were James Baldwin, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Charles Bukowski. A Brooklyn native, Norse traveled for years through Europe and North Africa, finally settling in San Francisco. During the early 1980s, he lived in Monte Rio in a home purchased from surrealist poet and commentator Andrei Codrescu. Readers include book editor Todd Swindell along with Norse’s friends, San Francisco poets Neeli Cherkovski and A.D. Winans.
