Hidden Past of Santa Rosa

Behind the familiar stories and published histories of Santa Rosa are the uncommonly known bits of history that surface from oral traditions, archaeological digs, and records. In this program, Sonoma State Anthropology Professor Margaret Purser will explore with Adrian Praetzellis, Eric Stanley, Nick Tipon, and Katherine Rinehart the fragments of local history that have been discovered that give a richer or augmented perspective of the past. Nick Tipon is an elder of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, and has served on the Tribe’s Sacred Sites Protection Committee.
