When: Sat., Oct. 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. 2018
This special event pays homage to one of Sonoma County’s most impressive trees as it enters its twilight years. We’ll walk one mile to the meadow bridge, as park naturalists discuss various plant fire-recovery strategies. Gathering at the Ancient Maple—one of the area’s largest big leaf maples during its prime—two area residents: retired State Parks Senior Archeologist and longtime Sugarloaf resident, Breck Parkman, and area poet, Michael Sheffield, will tell tales of the tree’s life. Afterwards, a light brunch will be served by the observatory. Join us, in an amazing place, to honor this unique tree.
