My Sonoma - Valley of the Moon, by Bill Lynch

When: Sat., May 12, 2 p.m. 2018

My Sonoma - Valley of the Moon by Bill Lynch. Bill was the fourth-generation editor of the newspaper started by his great grandfather. He spent many Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve celebrations dining with my grand aunt and uncle in their Barracks residence. I went goose hunting with August Sebastiani and grew up three doors from the winery. I spent many afternoons visiting with David Bouverie at his ranch. I knew many of the people whose names are on local buildings and halls. August Pinelli, Sonoma’s first alcalde was a family friend and customer of the Index-Tribune. I sold him ads in our newspaper. Most of what I have written in My Sonoma is about those old Sonomans of my parents’ generation. The stories are based on personal experience and on the stories they handed down to me. Like many stories told by old timers we have all known, mine are primarily anecdotal and viewed in a rose-colored rearview mirror. My Sonoma is that kind of book.
