As part of this campaign, our local council, Prevent Child Abuse-Sonoma County, hosts a series of free parenting classes and awareness events to recognize the importance of Child Abuse Prevention. Although April is Child Abuse Prevention month, every day of every month should be dedicated to stopping child abuse. In 2016, there were 5,521 reports of child abuse and neglect made to Family, Youth and Children’s Services. Of these, 2,220 reports were serious enough to require a face-to-face investigation to determine if abuse was actually occurring. Of the children removed from unsafe and abusive homes, 81% entered foster care primarily due to neglect. Printing Sponsor: Accent Printing & Design, INC.
