If the City of Santa Rosa starts a public bank, it could help cut infrastructure costs in HALF, and provide low interest loans – both desperately needed to rebuild Santa Rosa in years to come. Activists support it: it is the only way cities can divest from Wall Street banks and fossil fuels. Tom Sgouros will give a general overview of public banking. He will also discuss how the City of Santa Rosa could partner with the City of Eureka (both charter cities), to establish a Joint Powers Authority and implement a public bank together to serve the North Coast.
