Unconventional & Unexpected: Quilts below the Radar, 1950–2000 Unconventional and Unexpected shows how primarily anonymous, often self-taught women working below the radar of the art world have produced quilts for everyday use that nonetheless articulate many of the issues that have been at the core of the development of modern art during the second half of the 20th century. Shaker Stories from the collection of Benjamin H. Rose, III With the exhibition we have the opportunity to examine the origins of an American design aesthetic that continues to influence architects, artists, furniture makers, and product designers around the world.
