In this four week class, published author Jennifer Anderson works with students to analyze three classic stories written by masters of the mystery genre in order to explore the successful writing conventions of compelling mysteries. Students will learn how to create active scenes and dynamic characters while building rising conflict for suspense and developing a coherent fictional universe. Each student writer will also workshop a story or chapter of his/her own mystery novel with the goal of revising for enhanced drama through character complexity. Course Code Number: 74163
